Springbok casino is one that’s been around for many years, since early 2012 actually. It’s one of the longest-lasting online casinos that South Africa has had and is one of the few that is in English and Afrikaans.

The site is truly accessible to as many people as possible offering many different ways to play, and a number of options to choose from when playing. Even though they have just a single software provider, they manage to make use of it well by offering quite a large variety of online casino games.

Despite the online casino being aimed at South Africans, it’s only restricted in 7 different countries: Italy, Sweden, UK, Australia, Spain, Switzerland, and USA. The site is also restricted inn Asia but is open to the rest of the world.

Bonus

As a way to get players to join up instantly, Springbok offers a free R250 bonus using the code: TEST-SPRINGBOK. This will put R250 into your account absolutely free, allowing you to test the site, play the games, and even win some money. The maximum payout for this bonus is R500, so you can effectively double your money once you’ve reached the 30x wagering requirement.

In terms of what’s on offer for first joining the online casino as a welcome bonus, you’ll get a big addition to your deposits for the first three times you make a deposit. The first, initial deposit that you make will give you 100% up to R1,500 on your first deposit using the code SPRINGBOK100.

The second and third deposit bonuses that you can claim are 50% up to R5,000 and you’ll use the code SPRINGBOK50 for it. This is a code that you can use twice in succession, getting you a total of R11,500 on your three bonuses. The 30x wagering requirement will apply to all of these bonuses too.

With the code SPRINGBOK300, Springbok Casino is offering 300% matched bonus up to R600 too. This is something that you can use once you’ve claimed the test promotion and the welcome bonus and is applicable at any time throughout your time with Springbok.

There’s a 25% cashback promotion that you can get when you have made a deposit without claiming a bonus. You’ll need to have a balance that is less than R50, and cashback will pay up to a maximum of R3,000. You can redeem your cash back after 10x playthrough at the casino. Finally, Springbok Casino also offers monthly deposit specials, usually to the first few people who register for the coupon.

Site Design

Upon first look, Springbok Casino looks a little dated. Despite calling themselves South Africa’s best, the desktop site could use an update. It has a traditional menu that takes up the top of the screen, with the initial bonus listed below it. There’s a ticker below mentioning all the latest and greatest winners on the site too.

From there, you’ll come face to face with all the games, starting off with the newest ones. There’s another menu here where players can decide to look for the different types of games. Interestingly, it seems as if Springbok has decided to tack on individual features to the site time and time again, rather than redeveloping from the ground up.

The site offers a specific mobile tab which can be clicked on, which will then redirect you to the mobile page, or give you the option to get the app which is only available on Android.

Springboks offers a great variety of games

Games

Springbok Casino has over 250 games from RealTime Gaming software which is a lot better than some of the other online casinos using RTG available for South Africans. There are over 100 unique slots that you can play between three- and five-reel games. You will get access to about 25 different table games too.

When it comes to playing the table games, you’ll get a little bit of choice when you play. There’s a couple of blackjack variations and, including Perfect Pairs, European Blackjack, and more. There’s Tri Card Poker, Pai Gow Poker and Pontoon too. There’s also Vegas Three Card Rummy for those that want to try something new.

For some reason, the specialty games list is a little longer than usual. That’s because they’ve added European and American Roulette to this category, but with them, there’s Keno and Craps too. Video Poker is also a rather popular category and it includes some of the most popular games like Deuces Wild, Jacks or Better, Aces & Eights and Joker Poker too.

While there aren’t many progressive jackpots on the list at Springbok, there are a few popular ones. Those who enjoy those types of jackpot games will see familiar titles like Megasaur, Spirit of the Inca and Caribbean Hold’em. These jackpots will pay out in the hundreds of thousands of Rands and are sure to set you up for a good time.

Springbok has also decided to put a tab there for Mobile Games rather than just have them played automatically from the list. We’re not quite sure why this design exists this way, but it’s still fine to navigate there as a mobile player. Many of the slots here are the same as the ones you’ll get in the other slots section on the site.

Payment

We felt that payment options and methods were kind of where the wheels fall off at Springbok Casino. Not because of the options, but some of the details surrounding the options which we’ll soon cover.

When deciding to play at Springbok, you’ll need to put money into your bank account. With MasterCard or VISA there’s a minimum deposit of R150 with an instant deposit time. This is perhaps the simplest of deposit methods because you just pop your card numbers in and make the payment.

Springbok Casino also takes ewallet and prepaid card deposits like Skrill, Neteller, EcoPayz, EasyEFT and SID. These have minimum deposits of between R20 and R25 with instant deposit times too. Bitcoin is accepted at Springbok, but also needs a R250 minimum deposit.

The fastest method of withdrawal will probably be Bitcoin, it can be as quick as 8 hours. Skrill, Neteller and EcoPayz will also take withdrawals but can be a little longer. The minimum withdrawal for all of these is R500, with Bitcoin being a minimum of R1,000.

The problem is that the pending period for withdrawals at Springbok can be up to 96 hours. That’s an extra 24 hours beyond most of the other online casinos that we review. In addition to that, Springbok also takes an extra 24 hours to qualify payments from ewallets. Bear in mind, this isn’t always a certainty, it’s more just to cover them when withdrawals might be late.

Finally, you can also make use of a Wire Transfer, but you’ll need a minimum withdrawal of R1,500, and will have to pay R200 in transfer fees. At Springbok, this can apparently take a whopping 20 business days. Fancy that!

Security & Support

Springbok has an SSL-encrypted website, meaning they have an extra layer of protection where your personal information and banking details are concerned. Not only this, but their licensing from the Curacao Gaming Control Board makes sure that they are trusted and reputable. Springbok Casino is a certified TST audited casino, meaning the RNG is audited and tested on a periodic basis.

There’s a fair amount of support at Springbok, and while we only tested the live casino help that’s available 24/7, there is help available through email support too. We haven’t spotted an FAQ on the site, so the site is probably not for complete newcomers to online gambling.

Mobile Casino

All of the Springbok Casino games are available for all mobile phones and tablets. The mobile version of the site works across operating systems like iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows. The company has also launched a Springbok Casino App for Android only that became available in 2018.

The mobile version of the site looks really good and is an updated version of the desktop site. The site load quickly and easy and has the entire catalog to be played, instantly from your device.

Interestingly, the Aztec’s Millions progressive jackpot slot is only available on mobile and usually pays out around R25 million. If that’s not incentive for you to start playing on mobile, then we’re not sure what is!

Conclusion

Springbok Casino has a nice range of games, and despite it only having a single software provider, there are a lot more games here than other casinos using RTG. While there’s a lot of issues that we noticed with payments, both deposits and withdrawals, there is a great collection of games that players can play.

The site is a little interesting because of the desktop site being quite outdated, but the mobile site being really good. The addition of having a mobile app that can be downloaded may also work for a lot of people in South Africa too.

If Springbok is able to sort out and increase their processing speed for withdrawals, and then perhaps bring in another software provider to add some live dealer casino games, we think Springbok might be a top contender.
